Introducing the Bellamy Kelly Novels by yours truly, Bethanni Porter
Hey, readers. I'm working on a novel that I hope will be part of a series of novels. The main character in this new series is Bellamy Kelly, and the novels are set in coastal Brunswick County, North Carolina and the surrounding area. These will be crime-solving adventure stories, and the crime won’t always be murder.
Here’s a blurb (aka synopsis) for the first Bellamy Kelly novel, which I’ve entitled Josh Miller is a Killer:
After more than thirty years in Raleigh, North Carolina, Bellamy Kelly returns to her small, coastal hometown to be closer to her aging parents. Not that they need her. They have plenty of friends and socialize constantly. Unlike Bellamy, whose social life in Raleigh was a bust.
Bellamy entered state service as a paralegal immediately after college and worked her way up to retire as a state investigator. Professionally, she succeeded. However, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make her relationships work. She made and lost too many friends and boyfriends to count. Now, she’s home and as lonely as ever. Her only real interaction with people comes from Sunday dinners with her parents and the occasional process service job she gets from area law firms.
Her unexciting life gets uncomfortable when Josh Miller, a high school classmate from way back in the day, spots her in a store and causes a scene. Then a new process service job drops into her lap. Just her luck, Josh is the defendant who needs to be served. Out of boredom, Bellamy takes the job. She goes to Josh’s house only to literally run into him hightailing it away from a murder scene. He swears he didn’t do it, but the locals and police are convinced Josh Miller is a killer. Bellamy has her doubts, though. So, when Josh asks for her help, she agrees. What else does she have to do with her life?
